2024 GrandStand Events
OPENING CEREMONIES & FLAG RAISING
The Monroe County Fair will be kicking off this year in exciting and honorable style! All community members are invited to join us in the Exhibit Building to help celebrate the start of another great Fair in Albia on Monday, July 22nd starting at 7:00 p.m. The event will begin with a special presentation honoring and raising the flags on the grounds. Honors and awards will be presented during this event by the Monroe County Fair Board and Monroe County Extension and will include some great scholarship’s being given to very deserving 4-H & FFA Seniors of the Class of 2024. The opening ceremony event will be capped off with the crowning of the 2024 Fair King & Queen which is always an amazing celebration to watch as these very deserving youth vie for the crown under the volunteer efforts of Lynnette Major and Cindy Cronin! The 2023 Queen will be turning the royalty over and crowing the new reining Queen for 2024. Ice Cream and cake will be served to everyone following the ceremony. We invite everyone to see the great additions prior to the opening of the 2024 Monroe County Fair.
ROGUE RODEO PRODUCTION
will be the entertainment draw for Thursday, July 25 2024 at the Monroe County Fair! This is sure to be an event for many to participate and watch to enjoy! Bull Riding, Mutton Bustin’ and Barrel Racing will be the features of the night. Register, or come early to grab a seat and enjoy this great show in Albia, IA on Thursday night of our fair!
Cost to attend is $15.00 for adult, $5.00 for kids 6-13, and ages 5 and under are free with adult admission.
ULTIMATE MUD DRAG
The Friday Night Grandstand will feature an exciting sure to keep you on the edge of your seat event…Ultimate Mud Drag featuring local entrants with the following classes:
2 wd/ 4-wheelers – 4wd/4 wheelers – UTV Side x Side – Stock Trucks – Open Class
Everyone that has one of these ATV/UTV is invited to participate. Tell your friends and spread the word!!! Participants must have a valid driver’s license (16 years of age and older). If under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to sign legal waiver. Helmets and safety gear are required.
Starting event at 7:30 pm, the pits will be open at 5pm. Cut off for entry is 6:30 pm. Classes will be completed and posted at the announcer’s stand in the Grandstand Arena. Pit passes are $20.00 each at the pit gate entry. Entry per each class is $10.00 with 100% payout! General gate admission is $15.00 Adult 13 & up, Kids 6-12 is $5.00 and 5 and under are FREE!
LUNATIC PROMOTIONS DEMOLITION DERBY
will once again be assisting the Monroe County Fair Board and putting on one of the best shows in Southern Iowa on Saturday night in the Grandstand for 2024 Monroe County Fair! Always a favorite among Monroe County and surrounding residents – we are certain it will be another one for the books, as we are excited to announce that we are expecting another year with a huge purse payout – $10,000!!! With a $1,000 Hard Charger Award!
Cost to attend is $15.00 for adult, $5.00 for kids 6-13, and ages 5 and under are free with adult admission. The Beer Garden will open at 6pm, the Derby is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.
*Car and Driver admission is $40.00 to enter paid at the pit gate. Each person in the pits (non drivers) will pay $30.00 at the pit gate entrance. Waivers will be available for all in the pit area to sign.
